The Snake King of Brownsville (1914) Composed from several decomposed reels of nitrate film, this footage features W.A. King and his wife Manuela participating in a rattlesnake-catching contest at Fort Brown during Brownsville’s Sixth Annual Mid-Winter Fair in 1914. King, better known as the “Snake King of Brownsville,” supplied snakes and other wild animals to circuses and carnivals.
