First Turkey Trot (1912) In 1912, Cuero’s Chamber of Commerce turned the established practice of farmers driving flocks of turkeys down Main Street into an annual celebration known as the Turkey Trot. This silent newsreel footage captures the inaugural event, featuring 18,000 turkeys supplied by Isaac Eggs and Sons of Meyersville. Governor O.B. Colquitt and Mayor Henry Mugge lead the parade.
